Closed pod vs refillable pod: what do you actually notice day to day?

Setting aside the obvious difference in how they are filled, what do you notice most in normal day-to-day use between closed and refillable pod systems?

For me it is mostly maintenance and how much flexibility I want. Closed pods are simpler, but I like being able to clean and inspect a refillable pod instead of treating the whole thing as a black box.

Small devices, simple controls, no drama.

The refill routine is the biggest difference for me because I am still learning what “normal” upkeep looks like.

Learning the basics one useful answer at a time.

That is a useful way to compare them. The daily burden is not just the refill step; it is cleaning access, replacement cadence, mess management, and how easy it is to tell when something needs attention.

A buying guide should probably frame this as a trade-off instead of a winner: simplicity on one side, flexibility and maintenance control on the other.
