How much should size matter in a compact-device comparison?

When two devices are both marketed as compact, how much weight should the actual dimensions get compared with shape, weight, and pocket comfort?

I have used smaller devices that felt bulkier because of the shape, so I am skeptical of ranking them by measurements alone.

If it is awkward in a pocket, I notice immediately.

Dimensions are the objective baseline, but handling is the practical result. I would record both and explain when the shape changes the experience enough to matter.

Weight distribution matters too. Two devices can weigh the same and feel completely different in a pocket.

Side-by-side notes or it did not happen.

That is the distinction I was looking for: dimensions describe it, handling tells you what the dimensions mean.
